Office Ribbon Search

February 13, 2009

Quick update: Ever have trouble finding obscure menu commands in the new Office 2007 Ribbon? My partner David  just showed me an excellent little add-on for the Office Ribbon that comes from the Microsoft Office Labs team.

This adds an extra tab with a search box into the ribbon bar for Word, Excel, etc. Just type all or part of the command you were looking for and related commands dynamically populate the ribbon.

I’m not sure why this doesn’t ship with the products. I liked the ribbon anyway, but I bet this would have eliminated 80% of the complaints about the ribbon from the start.

There are a bunch of other cool office projects available from the lab team up on their blog. Enjoy!
